Who is Jim Bloom?

Jim Bloom is a Philadelphia-based drummer and percussionist. After growing up playing in garage rock bands, Jim attended New York University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance. At NYU, he studied with notable professors, such as Mike Richmond, Tony Moreno, Lenny Picket, and Ari Hoenig. In 2014, Jim traveled to Costa Rica as part of the Costa Rican-North American Cultural Center’s Promising Artists Program, where he performed and gave masterclasses. 

Since graduating, Jim has worked as a freelance musician throughout the Philadelphia and New York City areas.. He has toured nationally and performed in prestigious venues, including Brooklyn Academy of Music; The Kessler, in Dallas, Texas; and The Kennedy Center, in Washington, D.C. Jim also plays regularly in the tristate area performing with cover bands and original artists.

In 2019, Jim began teaching drums through an after school music program in NYC. He has recently relocated to Philadelphia and is now teaching in the Philadelphia area. His next project is building his studio space, where he will continue to teach lessons, be able to provide remote recording, and provide rehearsal space!

My personal lesson studio! All you need are a pair of sticks and determination to learn! (Honestly, I’ll have plenty of sticks to borrow if you need!) You’ll have a regular weekly slot on one of my studio days. 30/45/60 minute options available.
